BBKRDS is concerned about all kinds of child abuse against children in India. Child abuse is a serious case that needs immediate awareness. Child abuse can take various forms and can be challenging to identify. It’s important to note that child abuse is illegal and harmful. We want people to know of the abuses they sometimes do without realizing it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Physical abuse <\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Physical abuse refers to intentional physical harm or injury imposed upon a child by a parent, caregiver, or any other person in a position of power or authority. It involves physical force beyond reasonable discipline and causes physical pain, injury, or impairment. So, physical harm to a child through actions such as slapping, punching, kicking or beating is an offence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sexual abuse<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Sexual abuse refers to any sexual activity or interaction involving a child. The culprits are usually adults or older individuals. It is a violation of a child’s rights and well-being. It includes inappropriate touching of a child’s genitals or intimate body parts, Forcing a child to engage in sexual acts, exposing a child to sexually explicit material, engaging children in prostitution, child trafficking, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Emotional abuse <\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Emotional abuse is also called mental abuse. It refers to a pattern of behaviours or actions that harm a child’s emotional, psychological, or social development. It involves consistently harmful interactions that question the child’s self-worth, security, and emotional well-being. Emotional abuse can include rejecting the child’s needs for love and emotional support, humiliating the child by demeaning comments about their appearance or personal characteristics, manipulating the child’s emotions, and exposing them to domestic violence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here are some steps you can take if you suspect a child is abused in India:<\/p>\n\n\n\n


1. Contact the regional police or Childline about the abuse at 1098. They will take proper measures.
2. Provide all relevant details about the victim to help authorities locate and protect the child.
3. Offer emotional support and make them feel comfortable. Encourage them to seek professional assistance, such as counselling or legal aid, if necessary. Support and connect with the child.

It’s crucial to note that sexual child abuse is illegal and has severe physical, emotional, and psychological consequences for the child. The effects can last into adulthood, impacting their relationships, self-esteem, and overall well-being. As a responsible citizen, If you suspect a child is being abused, kindly report it.
